Welcome home!

Welcome home

A while ago i made a post about getting a dog. Now it's that time! Yesterday i went home with the new member of the family.

Meet Loeka:

We are getting to know eachother now. He isn't shy, that can i already say.
He loves giving kisses. His teeth are growing so he likes to bite everything (Put the shoes away!)

He is already very smart. You just have to show it once and het gets it.
He likes to watch television and this morning we watched Zootopia together.

I'm checking out, Loeka is tired and i'm tired. See you soon!

Getting a dog: What you should know...

Getting a dog: what you should know

29th of june we are getting a golden retriever puppy. I'm very excited and so happy to have a new life in the family.
Choosing a dog is difficult. Our previous dog was also a golden retriever. We choose the same dog again. Why? Because goldens are really great. They are smart, kind, funny, gorgeous and a typical family dog that's good with kids. They also train quickly if you put effort in them.

First of all. Why choose to buy a dog if you can adopt? Well first of all, i would also adopt a dog later in my life. But i live with my parents and we all had to agree on buying ( we did adopt in the past and that wasn't a good experience) but when i live alone i will most definitely adopt one also. THere's nothing wrong with buying, if you buy a dog from a good human being and not from a animal abuser. You have to choose with your brains and your heart. If you don't think you can handle caring for a dog you should not buy one. If you plan to go on vacation and don't want to spend money on an caretaker / dogpension for the dog, then don't buy or adopt one. YOU DON'T EVER TIE YOUR ANIMAL TO A TREE (or something else) and leave it there forever, Comprendo?

What do you do when you get a puppy?

1. Go to the family that sells puppies. Ask important stuff (vaccination, family tree, health, age (when can it leave the mother),) In my case the puppy lives with his sibblings and parents.

2. If you can pick it up, bring a TOWEL or someting. This may sound weird but put the blanket on the mother dog and rub it against them for a few minutes. The towel will smell like the mother and the first nights will be easier for the pup.

3. Bring another towel for you car. Puppies do pee.... especially when they are under stress. I'm planning to take the puppy on my lap but i don't want a wet pants so i'm going to put myself under the blankets.

4. If you come home, put the puppy on  the place where you want it to sleep. In my case it's his 'basket' ( that's really to big. A grown up man can sleep in it). Put the blanket of it's mother in there and the puppy.

5. Leave the puppy be for a half hour or as much as it wants. He/she is coming in a total new home without his family. He/she has to go on an adventure trough your house.

6. Give it a treat (dog treat) when it comes to you. It will link you with food. No it's not going to eat you but it will see you and think positive ( My pack leader has food!)

7. A dog is not yet trained to pee outside. This is not so difficult if you have a smart dog to train. But still, there's going to be a lot of pee and stuff inside your house. Sorry. Everytime you wake up the first thing you should do is put the puppy outside. Do this after his dinner/drink, when you come home. As much as you can. If it pees on the place you want you can give it a treat or say: GOOD JOB. Or something. If the dog pees inside NEVER PUNISH IT. A puppy doesn't know good or wrong yet. Don't make it afraid of you.

8. The first night the puppy sleeps alone or is alone at home it will make a lot of noise. But don't give in. It will go over. My dog will sleep downstairs, alone (with some birds but still). If you give in to his sadness he will never learn to be alone. You can do it in steps. If you go to work whole day, you can go outside for a moment and learn the dog you will come back. Do this a few times and make it longer and longer. He will learn that you come back. Everytime (hopefully).

9. Also, put your shoes away.

Well, hope you learned something about my list (it's experience so if i say something that isn't correct, please do say )

Other things you should keep in mind if you get a dog is the practical aspect.
Do you have time to walk everyday with your dog?
Do you want to spend a lot of money to him/her? (yes, animals are expensieve, but they are totally worth it!)
Have you got place for your dog?
Wich dog you want? A little one, a big one? With character traits you want?

Hope you find your pet!
Greetings
Namitjuh

The Junglebook

                                                            The Junglebook

The best movie of this year so far.
When i heard that Disney was remaking it's old classics I was very sceptic. Afraid they would ruin the story. I can gladly say that they did good with the tale of Rudyard Kipling.
The director (Jon Favreau) did a good job with this one.

I watched the movie in 3D. I'm not such a fan of 3D (I already wear glasses, i have to put the 3D on my own) but I got the feeling that the 3D with this one was going to be worth it. And it was. The first movie in a long time where the 3D is awesome. It is even better than the 3D of avatar.
The special effects... i can't even begin. How real looked those animals? My best friend said: It's like watching an animal documentarie on National Geographic but then with a whole story ( and talking/singing animals). It gave me the feeling of being as small as Mowgli, surrounded by those astonishing animals.

The story is darker, realistic but still with humor and wonder.
It has everything a Disney story should have.
They even let in the song of Baloo and King Louis. It wasn't disturbing for me, it somehow fitted into the story without being childish or musical-ish (you know what I mean).

Shere Khan... How creepy was he? He gave me the chills.
And that's good. You are really living in the movie without the feeling it's fake. It's so real that i wanted to stay in the jungle.
I was also happy with Kaa and how they did the flashback. She even hypnotised me. DON'T LOOK IN THE EYES.

I'm really curious about the new remakes of the classics.
Being as good as this one is going to be a challenge.

For me this was one of the best movies i have ever seen.
Thank you Disney for making this so good, giving me the nostalgic feeling and choosing the right director.

How to make Carrot-orange smoothie

Hello!

It's january ( for those who didn't know)
And that means it's winter... We all have a down feeling sometimes. Especially here in Belgium, no sunlight, no warmth, just RAIN.
We all suffer from a lack of vitamines... I felt really down these days, i figured it was of my unhealthy food patern. I'm in the middle of my exams and i just ate candy, chips, cookies... Ofcourse that's delicious but not so healthy.

I had an idea this week to just make a smoothie :)  It's not so healthy as people say ( sugar,..) but it's definitely better than candy!

Carrot orange smoothie!

What do you need?

Min. 2 huge carrots ( I used 4 or 5 little ones)

3 big oranges

1 apple ( I used a red one, but you can use a green one if you want)

1 knife

1 Blender

Next !
You clean the carrots and cut them in little pieces

You do them in the blender and mix till it's all a bit smoothly ( it doesn't have to be all smooshy, it will get better when you put the orange is, it's normal if it's still a bit 'rough')

Then you cut the oranges in little pieces ( Youtube can help: how to cut an orange without making a mess...) Try to take the white peeling of but i didn't really care about the peel, you can choose if you put your effort in that :p

You put the oranges in the blender and again you mix. Now it will be smoother because of the juice.

After you blend it really good, take one apple, cut the apple ( without the peel!) and do it in the blender.

You can also ad an ice cube ( i added two because i like it cold)
MIX MIX MIX

And serve immediately :)

ENJOY

Studying: a few (useless) tips

We all know the struggle...
It's an all known enemy that comes around in january, june and august.

I have an exam tomorrow but because the internet is so much nicer i'm writing this useless piece of *** now ( sorry for my cursing, it's the studydisease)

So, you know that feeling when you see you're books... look at them.... and go like: NOPE
Well i can't do anything about it.
Sorry
Bye

Nah just kidding.
I've got a few tips ( you probably already knew them but screw you)

1. Sleep ( yep, my favourite kind of advice) Why sleep? Well if you don't sleep you will die. I'm not kidding. How long you should sleep depends on who you are and how much you need. I, for example, i'm an earlybird. I go to sleep 10  or 11 PM and am a wake 7am. or 8 am. But i have enough with 8 hours.
2. Food
eat what you like :-) I hate when everyone says: eat vegetables and fruit and whatever. I eat really unhealthy for the moment but i don't care. WHen it's over i'm going to eat healthy again ( who am i kidding?) But if you want to feel good about yourself try to eat as much varieted as you like.
3. Free time?
While studying you definitely want to take a break. I watch series, read a book or go for a walk with my dog.
Good series to watch in the break are short ones ( 20 minutes, like New girl, ...)
I watched supernatural and id didn't end wel... got stuck in a marathon ( like all seasons marathon)

Now i'm done.
ps. you can also watch funny vids about cats..... really....it motivates people
